The icon is "yours" only if the original artist gives you sole (or partial) copyright in writing. Yes, you paid for its creation, but there still must be some sort of verifiable communication between you and the original creator for the icon to be "yours". Otherwise, the copyright still, legally, belongs to the original artist. This is particularly true when it comes to digital art, where it can often be difficult to determine who actually "owns" an image, since there is no original hard copy.

However, that being said, I think it's pretty obvious that ESDA made that icon just for you, so I don't see why the admins are having a problem with deleting it. Some websites have a policy that the copyright holder or designated counsel are the only ones who can issue a copyright infringement complaint (youtube, for one), but DA typically removes images that are blatant theft regardless if who notifies them.

It's fucked up, but I don't think that this is anything to leave over. The majority of people here are awesome, and we love seeing your art. We would miss you if you left. There are going to me assholes that you meet in every part of your life. Don't get into the habit of letting them win by just walking away.
